Terms of Service

Ontogeny Engine and mereology.app · Effective October 21, 2026

These terms govern your use of the Ontogeny Engine service at ontogeny.mereology.app and the website at mereology.app (together, the "Service"), operated by Mereology ("we", "us"). By creating an account, signing in with Google or GitHub, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

The Service

The Ontogeny Engine is a memory system for AI. It stores reasoning pathways, queries, and related content that you or agents acting for you submit, and retrieves them when you or your connected agents ask. The Service is under active development. Features may change, and we may add, modify, or remove them.

Your account

Your content

You keep ownership of everything you store in the Service. You give us a limited license to host, process, index, and retrieve that content, and to convert it into embeddings, only as needed to operate the Service for you. You are responsible for what you submit, and you confirm that you have the right to submit it.

If you choose to opt in to collective sharing, anonymized reasoning patterns from your content may be shared to a collective pool. This is optional and separate from your use of the Service, and you can change that choice at any time. Pathways you exclude are not shared.

Acceptable use

Do not use the Service to:

We may suspend or limit accounts that violate these terms or put the Service or other users at risk.

Third-party sign-in

Signing in with Google or GitHub is optional and is governed by that provider's own terms. What we receive and how we use it is described in the Privacy Policy. Our use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. You can revoke the Service's access at any time in your Google or GitHub account settings.

Our property

The Service, its software, and the Mereology, Asterism, Holarchy, Ontogeny Engine, and AKM names and marks belong to us. These terms give you the right to use the Service, not to copy it, resell it, or use our names and marks without permission.

Ending your use

You may stop using the Service at any time and may ask us to delete your account and its content as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or end your access if you violate these terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. If we discontinue it, we will give reasonable notice where we can so you can retrieve your content.

Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that retrieved content will be accurate or suitable for any particular purpose. You are responsible for how you use outputs from the Service and from any AI systems connected to it. Keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Mereology will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits, or revenue arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US$50. Some places do not allow these limits, so they apply only as far as the law permits.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Georgia, and you and we consent to those courts.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change materially, we will post the new version here and update the effective date above before the change takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that date means you accept the updated terms.
